1. Hongik University Station
So the first station is Hongik University. Once you get off this station, you’ll be dazzled by what they have to offer. They have trendy cafes, bars, stores, karaoke bars and much more. You’ll be surrounded by young fashionable people and they even have a stage for buskers.
A visit to the Thanks Nature Café aka sheep café is a must. Nature Thanks Cafe also has great ice-cream waffles and Korean ice slushy dessert bingsu you should definitely try. If you never tried bingsu, this is a ice slushy with different toppings, could be chocolate flavour, fruit one, red bean etc. Desserts prices are from 6,000KRW to 15,000KRW.
Another good place to visit is the Hongik Shopping District located just beside the university. There is a shopping street here, full of no-brand trendy fashion items with affordable prices. It’s a bit different from outlet, more like a campus style street version of Dongdae-mun area, you can check the price tag easily, even make a bargain if you are lucky enough, a good paradise for students with tight budget. Street beside it, there is a hot busking spot, not yet professional singers, dancers, performers do little concerts all year along, particularly busy and fun during Friday and Saturday night. Also looking around people is another enjoyable thing to do, young stylish vibes are all over.
2. Samseong Station
COEX Mall is connected to the Samseong station so it’s very convenient regardless of what the weather is like. They have all the major brand name clothes like Zara, Uniqlo, Moncler and etc… But what’s intriguing the most is the Starfield Library located in the mall. It’s a great place to take a photo and enjoy a cup of coffee while watching busy Koreans passing by you.
If you are a fan of K-pop and especially artists from SM entertainment, you should definitely visit the SMTOWN Museum. This is a paradise for a k-pop fan. There are fan goods you can do shopping around, recording studio you can enjoy, full of cafes and restaurants you can stop by if you are tired at Parnas Mall just at the avenue besides. Don’t forget to buy souvenirs at the shop, they have quite a lot limited edition particularly only for this SMTOWN Museum.
3. Anguk Station
This station is for those who want to see traditional side of Korea. Gyeongbokgung Palace is a must visit and there are hanbok(Korean traditional clothes) rental places nearby when you get off the station. Gyeongbokgung Palace offers discounts for those who wear hanbok to the palace. So it’s like killing two birds with one stone!
Bukchon Hanok Village is another great place to visit by subway. The important thing you need to know is, this village was and is actually a residential area, but so many people just visit there to look around without any respect. So residents are trying to report this issue to the government for over 10 years, but they never supported the residents instead, they just push to develop the whole area as tourist attraction spot. So when you look around Bukchon Hanok Village, please look around quietly, respect people who living their life, they will appreciate so much. Anyway, this is a very beautiful traditional area, memorable place to take awesome photos.
